The key word here is ‘custom’. There are literally dozens of different chips and tunes available these days, so your choice has never been so broad. Which can be a problem. Which is the best tuning system?

Although many ‘mail order’ tunes or cheap tuning ‘chips’ can net you some gains this is in no small part due the fact that GM LS engines such as those fitted throughout VE – VF models all have different tolerances engine to engine, and are very fuel rich. This is the case from factory, due to the simple fact that they are mass produced engines and for safety reasons regarding the fuel. These ‘canned’ tunes will help to some extent, but clearly is completely inferior to a custom tune for your specific engines characteristics, which is precisely what we do here at WDP.

We tune your vehicle using one of the most reputable tuning suites available, VCM Suite. We keep everything on file, so if you wish to sell your vehicle at a later stage for a nominal fee we will happily set everything back to stock. At this stage there are literally no downsides – you will get better fuel consumption, more power and torque, and even better throttle response. What’s not to love?

We replace the restrictive factory intake with the industry leading free-flowing VCM Performance OTR to allow more air into the engine. With this massive increase in air, we are able to add more fuel to the mix and tune your vehicle to get ever more of the good stuff – much more power, increased torque and a great throaty intake noise, with even better fuel consumption than standard.

Earlier VT-VZ models had a much smaller MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor when compared to later VE and VF models. Historically, removing the Maf and fitting a Mafless OTR on VT-VZ’s removed the restriction which resulted in more flow, higher horsepower and more torque. After countless hours of testing we have found that fitting a Mafless OTR on an unopened VE-VF resulted in no performance gain whatsoever, as the Maf is now so large.

Hence we prefer to fit a Maf enabled OTR system, which results in just as much performance, with the added benefit of a more consistent idle and better fuel consumption.

VE-VF V8 PHASE THREE PACKAGE

Our Phase Three Performance Package is one of our most popular, and for good reason. You get the performance gains from the OTR and custom dyno tune, as well as an idle note that your V8 should’ve come with from the factory!

The cat-back exhaust system consists of all piping from the factory cats mounted just behind the engine, all the way back to and including the rear tips. We offer a few different sizes and brands of cat-backs, so we can provide you with anything from a low burble at idle or a far more aggressive note that simply demands attention.

VE-VF V8 PHASE FOUR PACKAGE

  • 1 ¾” stainless steel 4–into–1 Hurricane or Xforce headers

*Headers can be upgraded to 1 7/8” for more power and an even more aggressive note.

Get the most power possible without opening up the engine. The addition of high flow headers and freer flowing catalytic converters to the OTR and cat-back supplied in the Phase Three Package adds considerable horsepower and torque, whilst the note at idle is also improved to a much deeper V8 rumble. There will be no doubt your car has had significant work done, yet won’t be so obtrusive as to attract the wrong kind of attention.

The great thing about this package is that if you are considering going further with your vehicle at some stage, such as a camshaft upgrade, or perhaps going the forced induction route such as a supercharger or turbocharger(s), you will have enough exhaust to suit – no need to upgrade the exhaust again!

The absolute ultimate in street performance. Although turbocharging will typically net you more horsepower, it can be unusable in reality, as you will be forced to rev your vehicle hard to come onto boost meaning staying under the speed limit can become a challenge. Over years of modifying Holden’s we have found that if you want the torque, the feeling of getting pushed back in your chair, massive horsepower gains, but also the ability to feel all this whilst not risking your licence, then supercharging should be where you look.

Being able to stab the throttle to overtake other cars quickly, or feel scary acceleration whilst staying under 100 kmph is only achievable via this method of forced induction, which is why it is so popular with customers who aren’t only going to be using their vehicle for the drag strip. We can offer a variety of brands of superchargers, but we have had great success with the Magnuson Heartbeat top mount series of positive displacement superchargers. They fit well because they are engineered correctly, make massive power and take big boost upgrades all in stride.
